Re: BUSHMASTER ACR!!!
Well, it is not piston operated (finished the video) and there is no way the military would use it, the ergonomics are too different from the M4/M16 variants, the HK416 and SCAR are the best choices for the military in '09.

either way its better than both of those and seriously fuck the m4 m16 and HK416 50plus years old time for a new better design...im sick of the stupid one sided design especially since i have to shoot left handed when i go into the army. and the bushmaster acr can be upgraded to 7.62 or whatever so thats also hella nice
Re: BUSHMASTER ACR!!!
Well, my friend is right handed and uses his M4 left handed because it is more comfortable? for some reason so it is not impossible to do, and don't fix what aint broken, we would have to spend millions on new mags, mag pouches, and weapon instructors to learn about the new design, with the HK416 it is extremely similar so it would be a much easier transition. Why get a new weapon system if the old one is great? And the M16 is only about 40 years old, not 50+. And the caliber 5.56 is better than 7.62 because of a long series of tests in the 60's. With smaller bullets you can carry more ammunition in a smaller space using up less weight. For example, "with an M14 you can have the gun and say 100rds of ammunition and it weighs 20lbs. With the M16 you can have the M16 and 400rds of ammunition having the same weight." Also the concept is to have more rounds placed on a single target than less, higher caliber rounds. Also, 7.62 rounds are IMPOSSIBLE to control on full auto, it is more of a DMR round.
Re: BUSHMASTER ACR!!!
I like it because it comes in 5.56x45mm NATO and 7.62x39mm if ya need that lil extra. Also, if you think the Army's gunna upgrade to something new, lol is all I gotta say. As they say, "your weapon was made by the lowest bidder". The H&K design is possibly the best for the conditions in Iraq because of it's short-stroke piston. Here's the U.S. Army statement about the M16 during their weapons testing between the XM8, FN SCAR, M4 and H&K 416-
"M16s uses gas-tube system, which results in carbon being blown back into the chamber. That leads to carbon build up, which results in jams. The short-stroke system also does not expose parts of the rifle to extremely hot gases (which wears out components more quickly). As a result, rifles using the short-stroke system, rather than the gas-tube, are more reliable, easier to maintain and last longer."

As for the 5.56mm round, it's a nice round but even the Spec Forces guys said they didn't like it because it required mulitple shots to take their targets down. The Military chose it because, like he said, weight and its better accuracy. But lets look back. The Army also switched to the 9mm because it was more accurate, yet my dad was getting, what would have been headshots, at over 75 yards with hollowpoint .45 ACP rounds. So the Army's reasoning is obviously stupid, because if you're using a 9mm at a range larger than that, haha, you obviously brought the wrong weapon to the fight. The 6.8mm is nice because it's an in-between round. Nice knock down power, yet still got a good range. If it was up to me, they'd use the .50 Beowulf, but that's a little overkill lol. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.50_Beowulf

im pretty sure the guy who invented it did it 50 years ago...yes i know 5.56 is better. who cares about money...you do realize a tomahawk cruise missle for one costs like 200k...yet guns dont cost THAT much...not to mention they are used by a living person so we want them to have the best shit possible. OH and just to let u know magpul took the m16 and used it to design the acr. they both are the same (Gas-operated, rotating bolt) "Design features from the Armalite AR-18 (gas system), the FN SCAR (upper receiver, charging handle location), the Heckler & Koch G36/XM8 (liberal use of polymer components), the Heckler & Koch G3 (trigger pack), and the M16 (barrel, fire control group)" oh and the msrp is 1400 which isnt that bad.

haha yeah well its a little harder than just joing spec ops but yeah ure right
Re: BUSHMASTER ACR!!!
Haha, I know. Just saying, you get whatever gun you want because of it's small force size. I don't get why soldier's just don't get a gun catalog, pick a gun they want and the Army deducts that cost from your pay. Same goes for body armor *cough*dragon skin*cough*. But that's another story.

haha yeah dude for sure...idk maybe the army would let u do it if u wanted to...idk for sure though imma be an officer though
Re: BUSHMASTER ACR!!!
Oh, right on. I was thinking of joining infantry pretty soon, not sure though. Do you get the standard 9mm Beretta M92 as an officer? Or do you get a rifle too? I'm not to familiar with the Officer side of the military lol.

not sure depends on what job you choose.
Re: BUSHMASTER ACR!!!
Just read the last part of Cameron's post about the AK-47 round being uncontrollable on full auto. I just had to say that's totally false lol. Maybe the Dragunov 7.62x54mmR, but not an AK-47 7.62x39mm lol. I've fired my dad's Mach-90 (civilian AK) a bunch of times, it's not uncontrollable at all. I mean sure, it's gunna climb with the recoil, like any gun, but it's not uncontrollable. Not like it's an M14 lol.
Re: BUSHMASTER ACR!!!
I meant a .308 round, like in the G3SG1 or the M14, or SCAR-H. And I think the bushmaster 7.62 conversion is to the AK47's round, which is non-nato so we would have little use for it.
Re: BUSHMASTER ACR!!!
Oh, okay. I was gunna say lol. Btw Cameron, you seen the .458 SOCOM round? Talk about stopping power. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.458_SOCOM
Re: BUSHMASTER ACR!!!
7.62mm rounds are much louder than the 5.56s. This translates to you going deaf a whole lot faster, and losing your hearing is pretty big disadvantage for many reasons that don't need to be explained. Most soldiers eventually go deaf in battle anyways but there is no need to speed up the process.
Has Dragon Skin been fielded? I thought it was still in its testing phase

Also AK rounds do not go as far as 5.56 rounds, it is good for CQB if you have a suppressor on. Dragonskin is too expensive to use. Why get rid of hard armor plates? It works fine.
